Courses Frequented
We're lucky to call Northern California home, where world-class golf is always just a short drive away. The Mulligan Masters rotate through a mix of challenging, scenic, and well-loved tracks that offer something unique every round. Here's a look at some of the staple courses that make up the core of our circuit:
Cinnabar Hills Golf Club
Cinnabar Hills blends dramatic elevation changes with panoramic views of the Silicon Valley foothills. With three nine-hole combinations—Canyon, Lake, and Mountain—it offers variety and strategy in every loop. The layout rewards smart play and creativity, while the quiet, natural setting makes it a favorite for both competitive rounds and casual hangs.
Half Moon Bay Golf Links
Few experiences rival a round on the Old Course at Half Moon Bay. Perched on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific, it's our go-to for when we want to mix serious golf with serious views. The coastal winds, fast greens, and iconic closing hole along the cliff make every round here unforgettable.
Presidio Golf Course
Nestled within the historic Presidio National Park, this tree-lined track delivers old-school charm with tight fairways and small, quick greens. It demands accuracy and rewards shot-makers, especially under the fog. Playing here always feels like a step back in time—right in the heart of the city.
Baylands Golf Links
One of the more accessible and modern courses we frequent, Baylands offers wide fairways, firm conditions, and a fun links-style layout. The views of the Baylands preserve and ever-present breeze add subtle challenge. It's a solid choice for a relaxed round with just enough bite to keep things interesting.
Wente Vineyards Golf Course
A hidden gem in wine country, Wente is known for its dramatic elevation shifts, vineyard-lined fairways, and pristine conditions. It's as scenic as it is tough, with narrow tee shots, undulating greens, and postcard-worthy views from almost every hole. This is a top pick when we want a high-quality track with a getaway feel.
TPC Harding Park
A former PGA Championship host, Harding Park brings championship pedigree to our lineup. Wide fairways, towering cypress trees, and a strategic layout make it playable but challenging. It's a favorite when we want to walk the same fairways as the pros and soak in a big-stage golf experience right in our backyard.
Specialty Courses
Beyond our regular rotation, the Mulligan Masters occasionally take things up a notch with rounds at some of California's most iconic and exclusive destinations. These specialty courses offer unforgettable experiences—whether it's championship pedigree, coastal beauty, or private club prestige. Here's a look at the gems we've been fortunate to tee it up on:
Poppy Hills Golf Course
Tucked within the famed Del Monte Forest of Pebble Beach, Poppy Hills is a true modern classic. Redesigned by Robert Trent Jones II, the course seamlessly blends into its natural surroundings with firm, fast fairways and dramatic elevation changes. It's a favorite among purists for its strategic layout and minimalist aesthetic—no houses, just trees, sand, and the occasional deer.
As the home course of the NCGA, it offers tournament-level quality with a laid-back vibe, and it's become a Mulligan Masters must-play for our larger group outings.
Del Monte Golf Course
Del Monte is the oldest operating course west of the Mississippi, and it wears that legacy proudly. Opened in 1897, this course combines classic design with Monterey charm—tight fairways, small greens, and a tree-lined layout that demands precision. Don't let the shorter yardage fool you: Del Monte rewards smart play and can quickly punish anything off-line.
With a rich history and unbeatable value in the heart of Monterey, it's a perfect throwback track that adds character to any Mulligan Masters weekend.
The Links at Spanish Bay
Playing Spanish Bay feels like golfing on the edge of the world. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Tom Watson, and Sandy Tatum, this coastal links-style course delivers stunning ocean views, rolling dunes, and the constant hum of the Pacific. The wind is always a factor, and bump-and-run creativity is encouraged over aerial heroics.
A bagpiper plays at sunset, the sunsets are legendary, and every round feels like a special occasion. Spanish Bay is our go-to when we want a taste of true Scottish-style golf without leaving California.
The Lake Course at The Olympic Club
A true bucket-list round, the Lake Course at The Olympic Club is as prestigious as it gets. Host to five U.S. Opens (and counting), this historic private course is carved into the hillside above Lake Merced. It's tight, tree-lined, and relentlessly tough, with tilted fairways and crowned greens that reward precision and punish mistakes.
Access is limited and the tradition runs deep—when a Mulligan Master gets the invite, it's a special day for the whole crew. Playing here isn't just golf; it's joining a legacy.
Bucket List Courses
Every golfer has a list—that short, sacred roster of courses that live in our imaginations long before we ever set foot on the first tee. For the Mulligan Masters, these are the Nor Cal courses that combine prestige, design, and pure golfing magic. Whether we've played them once or are still dreaming of our first loop, these are the rounds we talk about around the 18th hole, text about late at night, and plan future trips around.
Pebble Beach Golf Links
The crown jewel of American public golf. Pebble Beach is as iconic as it gets—home to multiple U.S. Opens, host to legends, and a course that's etched into golf history. With cliffside holes like the 7th and 18th, every swing feels like it belongs in a highlight reel. It's expensive. It's bucket-list for a reason. And when a Mulligan Master finally makes the walk down that famous finishing hole, it's a memory for life.
Spyglass Hill Golf Course
Often overshadowed by its famous neighbor, Spyglass Hill might be the better pure golf course. The opening five holes weave through seaside dunes, then the course dives into dense forest, offering a one-two punch of beauty and brutality. It's tight, it's tough, and it's built for serious players. Playing here tests every club in the bag—and earns immediate bragging rights.
Pasatiempo Golf Club
Designed by the legendary Alister MacKenzie (the same mind behind Augusta National), Pasatiempo is a masterpiece of routing, strategy, and architectural brilliance. Elevated tees, dramatic bunkering, and slick, contoured greens make it a thinking golfer's dream. It's a course that gets better the more you play it—and one that leaves first-timers in awe. For many Mulligan Masters, this is the thinking man's bucket-list round.
Yocha Dehe Golf Club
Located just outside of Sacramento at the base of the Capay Valley, Yocha Dehe is a hidden gem that punches way above its weight. Impeccable conditions, a creative layout, and vineyard-lined fairways make it one of the best resort courses in California. It's playable but challenging, peaceful yet dramatic—and has become a top target for a future Mulligan Masters weekend getaway.
