Why we play

Play golf.
Help rescue dogs.

The Golf for Good Scramble exists for one reason: to put real money in the hands of an organization doing real work for animals who need a second chance.

Every entry directly benefits Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond, a rescue organization dedicated to helping West Highland White Terriers and other dogs find safety, care, and loving homes.

It's still a tournament. We still keep score. But the trophy is the impact — and the day itself is one of the best of our year.

How it plays

The format & the rules.

Casual scramble, lightly competitive, fully fun. The basics fit on three cards — click "Read details" if you want the fine print.

Format

Standard scramble. All four players tee off, pick the best shot, and play from there until holed. Each player must contribute at least 2 tee shots.

  • Tee assignments: Men play the white tees · Women play the gold tees.
  • Ball placement: Drop within 1 club length of the selected shot, no closer to the hole. Stay in the same condition (fairway stays fairway, rough stays rough, bunker stays bunker).
  • 2-putt / bogey max: Once your team has all putted twice or reached bogey, pick it up. Keeps the round moving.
  • Mulligans: $10 each, max 4 per group. Use them wisely.

Scoring

One scorer per team on a physical card. Subtract your team handicap strokes after the round, then post your net score in WhatsApp.

  • One designated scorer per team keeps the official scorecard.
  • After your round, subtract team handicap strokes (we provide those ahead of game day).
  • Post your final net team score in the WhatsApp group.
  • Handicap adjustment: teams with lower average handicaps may give back strokes; higher-handicap teams may get bonus strokes. Full details released before game day.

Etiquette

Be cool. No cheating, no foot wedges, no "I thought that was a gimme." Trash talk is encouraged — just keep it friendly.

  • Tip your cart staff. They make the day work.
  • Don't forget sunscreen.
  • Trash talk is allowed, encouraged even — keep it friendly.
  • Honest scoring. Double-check the math.
Mulligans

$10 each · max 4 per group

All proceeds go to the charity pot. Spend wisely — or recklessly, your call.

Grand Prize
